He may well have been God but it didn’t stop his divine licks getting covered under a wave of caterwauling harmonica whilst in The Yardbirds or backing revered bluesmen during their
Resurrected numerous times since, these (mostly) live cuts of early Eric are rough as a badger’s behind with little appeal beyond newly-inducted EC completists wanting a handy place to genuflect before their idol.
Whilst acknowledging the historical merit contained in some of this odds and sods compilation (jamming with Jimmy Page, etc), newcomers wanting to know what all the fuss was about are better off checking out John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers “Beano” album then proceeding sharpish to Cream.
